The raw photos for this image were taken on Sol 3064, the most recent set in the raw image gallery. The next most recent were taken on Sol 3027, and these do appear glassy. In fact, their appearance is certainly stranger yet, on the face of it:

Ahhh, I am in agreement with the first sentence of the thread, (and I am not a planetary scientist), but my guess is they are just “odd, spherical rock formations on Mars”? < /humor >
