i know : ) i have myriad Vegas stories to tell. Get this... i was in a cab coming back from shopping at a diff hotel and i always chat up the cabdrivers. Always start with how is the economy doing etc. I asked the guy if he was from LV, and he said, yeah, basically. Asked where i was from and i said well i live in Northern VA-DC suburbs but originally from PGH, he said no kidding, so am i! i said well i could have sworn i heard the accent, but didn’t say anything bc you had just said you were from Vegas. It was so wild! he said he was from the city, went to Wilkinsburg HS, i said oh i went to a FARM SCHOOL and he guess Kiski Area. I said hey, there were always BRAWLS when we played you guys in football, we were foothills champions when i was there. He couldn’t believe i remembered the division, i said, hey, we got a day off school the year we won. He graduated 1973, and i said i graduated 1974. He moved to Vegas in 1980. He said off all the cabs you could’ve gotten into, you got into mine. Said i made his day etc. Pittsburghers are the best! He did have lib politics though, he wouldn’t go down that road with me bc of course they are always angling for the tip.
and he was a white guy!
Friday night may see me watching Kiski play Hempfield. Both teams are 2-1 now (and the Jayhawks are out of town).
