Be that as it may, Martin saw the gun, threatened Zimmerman with death, and reached for it. Whether he actually succeeded in touching it is immaterial. Zimmerman had every reason to believe Martin intended to kill him with his own gun. So he shot first.
Fine, but it doesn't help Zimmerman if there are inconsistent stories. One bothersome issue is that a friend of Zimmerman just published a book in which he relates conflicting descriptions of the shooting that he claims Zimmerman told him.
At this point, I'm particular about reminding people that Zimmerman told police that he trapped Martin's hand, drew the gun, and shot Martin - after Martin told him he was going to die.
We don't need critics saying "wait, that's inconsistent with Zimmerman's story about wrestling over the handgun . . ." when Zimmerman didn't say that.
