I used to know this waitress who had some use for a South American dishwasher. He told me some tales, I tell ya!

I remember my grandmother doing this during the energy crisis in the early 70’s. She didnt run the stove, she ran the dishwasher. Did nt make sense to me.

Did you ever hear of anyone who would have a dishwasher in her boudoir? Well, she did, this waitress, and she used the dishwasher unconventionally, I was told.

I’ve heard you can cook a lobster in a dishwasher on a full setting with heat
Dry and it comes out perfect (Florida spiny lobster anyways)

I know a cop who said he liked stainless steel firearms because he could disassemble them and throw the parts in the dishwasher to clean them.

I add TSP to both my laundry and dishwasher.

It's true... My dad used to do this with his model 64 S&W revolver. The model 64 is a stainless steel .38 special. He never did it with his model 10 which was blued. Due to this trick, there were a lot of happy officers when the department transitioned over to the stainless model 64. It really did the job on removing powder residue, and the front of the cylinder looked like new!

For cleaning the dishwasher, I use the cheapest lemonade drink mix I can find, fill the main cup with it, and fire it up. We have a problem with minerals in our city water, so the inside of the d/w gets streaked from time to time.

Our youngest son told me of another, interesting use for the dishwasher; cleaning a gummed up computer keyboard. You run it through with no soap, and no heated drying. Let it dry thoroughly for a couple of days, and voila, clean keyboard! I spilled some coffee into mine once, and he told me to do that. Worked like a charm!

Red Green mixed and baked a tub-shaped loaf of bread in a clothes washer. Then he used a chain saw to cut it.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of baked on black grease marks on pats and pans?

As long as the stains are on the outside of the pot, it's no big deal. Actually, shiny pots will reflect some of the heat away from the pot, so a gunky dark bottom on the pot actually saves fuel!

Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

If you absolutely have to have shiny metal pots, there's nothing better than an SOS pad and a lot of elbow grease.
