Taurus 809 has a safety lever on both sides. Also has the 3 different inserts on back of grip for different size hands. Has decocking feature and a trigger bar that keeps hammer from dropping if trigger is not pulled. Also has a practically rust free finish. I like the way Glocks fire at the range but they make me nervous as a carry weapon. Must be carried securly in a proper holster. Just my opinion.
Lol !
As you’re considering all int the family learning, I would definitely recommend beginning with a .32 REVOLVER 2 1/2 inch “snub nose”.. SAFE, EASY TO LOAD (for righthander)see “google’ “how to load and unload a revolver”, weapon NOT “OVERPOWERING” for a beginner easy to care for. You can move UP after becoming proficient and IF YOU REALLY LIKE “SHOOTING” and TAKING CARE OF A WEAPON. Good luck, enjoy
You sir are a man of exquisite taste. :-) That'd be my recommendation also (although you can no longer get the ORIGINAL Walther P99 as it's now made by S&W and IMO the quality dropped....)
If one can find an ORIGINAL Walther P99 it's worth it's weight in gold, IMO.
