No real point in hoarding paper money anyway.

That is true.

As a nice guy, if you send me all of your $50 and $100 bills, I will send you back some $10 and $5 bills.

Hoarding $100 bills hasn’t really been a problem for me.

I doubt very much that technology has advanced to the point where something the size and weight of a money bill can punch a signal to a satellite, with no battery.

Just to be sure, I have a huge stack of 100’s that I’m gonna wrap up in foil, just in case.

Not unless you’ve announced the location of your hoard on Facebook.

There is a polyester filament in the bill, but it is an anti-counterfeiting measure. If you photocopy a bill, the strip won’t be there.

A simple Google search would have answered your question. This rumor has been going around for nearly 20 years.

Satellite? I don’t think so. But I do believe that certain bills have a tiny metallic thread. If you have enough of them in one roll, walking through a metal detector will get a reaction. I believe that is on purpose — if you’ve got $5000 in your pocket, the government wants to be aware of it.

They can’t do that like they can’t find Obama’s real birth certificate or college transcripts.

there are metallic fibers of a certain length embedded in the paper.

If you have a strong RF signal, and look at the return reflection, you can estimate the amount of money. However, this takes a very strong transmitter, and a very controlled environment — think of an x-ray scanner at the airport.

So although it’s possible on a local basis, the idea we can do that from space is a bit far-fetched, as it would take dedicated very high power satellites (which we may have but I doubt it).

You’s in servace N’Mnobony Manger Bank of 419 .

I wouldn’t know. I haven’t seen a $50 or $100 in years.

What I've heard is that there is a tiny teenie transistor, sister in those bills, that tracks all your moves.

If you believe it, send all your money to me so they can’t track you. Trust me, it is your only way to be safe.

It would take quite a large value to make up a detectable pile. Here is a graphic similar to one I saw earlier this year.

http://blueeyeview.blogspot.com/2012/01/staggering-obscene-graphics.html

If you only have a few million you shouldn’t have a problem stashing it in a few safes with your guns and other valuables. Now if your talking more than 100 million or so then the challenge is somewhat greater.

Why would you hoard paper money, anywise?

Need a toilet paper-like trade item for after the collapse?
