When a dog was spotted dangling from an apartment window, he got help from an unexpected person - a UPS driver. Hector Matta was making deliveries in a Boston neighborhood when he spotted the dog perched dangerously on the window sill outside of an apartment window, shivering, afraid and hanging on for dear life.
Hector told Boston's WHDH News "Just happened to make a delivery and look up and see this dog on the window shaking. I just tried to do the best I could with the dog because I felt bad for him."
He decided to come to the dog's aid. Thinking quickly, he went to a nearby construction site and got a ladder from one of the workers. Hector then climbed up to the dog. The dog had punched through the screen window and gotten stuck on the ledge, unable to go back in. Hector pushed the dog back inside through the window, most likely saving the dog's life.
The 10 year UPS employee was modest about his efforts, "Just me being me, trying to help people out." He also cares for dogs, owning an English Bulldog himself. "I love dogs - I love animals. It's nothing for me, this is what I do."

Pay no attention to any nasty rumors you may hear. This doggie thread was *not* prompted by any alleged ‘triple dog dare’.
(Besides, even if it was, a Triple Dog Dare is better than a Triple Doberman Glare....)

When I was a teenager, I had this cat who used to sleep on my bedroom window sill and cry at the birds outside. The window had those screens that are attached at the top and swing out. One early morning... well, you can guess what happened. Fortunately we were only on the second floor.
She landed in the bushes outside my parents window and started squalling so loud she woke everyone up.
Our UPS guy always made time to stop and play with the bunnies when they were in their exercise/grazing pen beside the machine shop.
It was funny to see him hop the fence and get right in there with them.

And this ties in to the video I just watched about Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs, talking about the value of work. Real work. We need to be the party of those who do real work, hard work, dirty work. Paper pushes and number crunchers (the camp I fall into) are fine and dandy, but we need to recognize and revere and praise the guys who get grease under their nails and who don’t work in air conditioned cubicles all day.
Lucky a cop didn’t see the dog first, dog would have a magazine of bullets emptied into him.
When we lived far, far into the country we had two *book end* yellow Labs, who had learned to scale a 5’ fence in the back yard. Once they were up ‘n over...they’d wander shoulder to shoulder several miles down to the village. When our UPS found them, he’d lure them into the truck with biscuits he kept on his dashboard...and deliver them safely home...ringing the doorbell with a report of where he found them *this time*.
This driver was an angel. Brown rules.
I hope the dog is smart enough to learn his lesson, along with his parent.
I love our UPS guy. Customer service IS his business and it shows.
