Seriously though, I would think that an airtight container - say 200 or so .50 cal. ammo cans - stored in a cool place would keep chocolate fresh for a long time. If it got a little stale, so what? If SHTF time comes, I’d eat it stale or not.

Chocolate can be stored for a couple of years in the freezer. (Assuming the electricity doesn’t go out.)
After Halloween, all the candy will be on sale as the stores prepare to stock for Christmas.

I watched a tape of Wendy DeWitt who is an expert on storage and she vacuum sealed pint jars of Nestle chocolate chips. One of the jars didn't seal and she discovered it years later. The unsealed jar was white and powdery and the sealed jar looked brand new. She used the jar sealer that can be bought for a Food Saver.
