FLASHBACK: Obama to Barbara Walters: “I think there’s a laziness in me” (Dec 2011)

RealClearPolitics has compiled a series of little previews of the First Couple’s interview with Barbara Walters, set to air on 20/20 tonight. Every clip is notable in its own way, but this wins the award for most candid.

The president — who has alternately inspired, disappointed, reignited and flamed out — admits that, deep down, he’s a little bit lazy.

He thinks it stems from growing up in Hawaii, where it’s always sunny and folks sit on the beach for sport, he said. Makes you think Obama’s constant accusations that Congress does nothing might actually be transparent projections of his own disappointment in himself.

video at link....from transcript:

Barbara Walters, ABC News: "What's the trait you most deplore in yourself, and the trait you most deplore in others?"

President Obama: "Laziness."

Walters: "You're lazy?"

Obama: "You know, it's interesting. There is a deep down, underneath all the work that I do, I think there's a laziness in me. It's probably from, you know, growing up in Hawaii and it's sunny outside, and sitting on the beach.

Andrea Mitchell suggests Romney surrogate 'take it back' after calling Obama 'lazy'

"Governor, I want to give you a chance to maybe take it back. Did you really mean to call Barack Obama, the president of the United States, lazy?" she asked.

"Yes," Sununu responded. He repeated the claim and referenced a comment Obama had made earlier in the week in between debate prep sessions in Las Vegas. The president said "it's a drag" and that his aides were "making me do my homework"

Besides when you win the Nobel Peace Prize for doing absolutley nothing (not to mention all the other non-accomplishments he’s lauded for), you feel that lazy pays.

Way to go, Nunu. We need to stop apologising and ‘taking it back’.

The more we learn..Obama or Barry.. is a made up character. There is no way the man can live up to the marketed brand.

MSM is caught in the fraud. They are counting on the uniformed to play along. Although Obama may be getting tired of the role.

Obama has never gotten his lazy butt out of bed before 11am his whole life and his performance in the debate and the last four years proves it.

Rush and Drudge are also covering it.

Oprah-- used to say,"believe what people tell You" (about themselves)

She also attended Wright's church

...like when Obama stated "my muslim religion" in a national interview and had to be reminded "your Christian religion".

One does not forget their religion unless it's on a teleprompter.

I can't believe you just posted that Oprah quote! Oprah was quoting Maya Angelou. I think A.M. is dead wrong about many things, but always have thought she was right when she said, “When someone tells you about himself, believe him.” In fact, that's exactly what I posted with the video on facebook — and attributed the quote to Maya Angelou. (I got a kick out of using Angelou’s words against Obama!)

Assessing Obama's performance at the debate in Denver on Wednesday, Sununu said: "What people saw last night I think was a president that revealed his incompetence, how lazy and detached he is and how he has absolutely no idea how serious the economic problems of the country are."

Since Andrea Mitchell only took exception to the characterization of Oboma as being lazy,I suppose she was in agreement about him being incompetent and having no idea how serious the economic problems are.
