Yeah just found this old you tube... but my oh my does it bring back some memories....
Galpin's an interesting place -- biggest Ford dealer in the world. IIRC, the guy who founded it started there in Van Nuys back in 1946, when it was mostly farmland. Now, if you don't speak Spanish, it's hard to even get something to eat there.
Right around the corner from the main dealership, right off the main drag, is a private museum where they keep these beauties (right next to the GAS shop); nobody racing by on the highway would ever know that there must be about $100 million worth of rare cars in their -- old rods, custom rods, exotics. Spectacular.
I love stories like this.
The car guys from the 60s and 70s are just fascinating people.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing this.
The Carriage House restaurant they run in the main Ford dealership is good too. What other coffee shop offers a crab omelet with real crab

His second reason for this car's "failure,"after some hindsight, is probably also at least partly correct. The Orbitron debuted just after the Beatles stepped off the plane from England. As Ed (Roth) said, "I was humpin' my booty to get it to Revell's HQ ... when the Beatles appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and all model sales stopped. Guys got guitars instead o' cars."
