But what was Gabby Hayes’ position on Dodd-Frank and was Trigger a member of PETA?

I LOVED Gabby Hayes - great beard!

Didn’t he have a name for his jeep?

The name of the Jeep was “Nellybelle”. (The German shepard dog was “Bullet”.)

Gun control by criminals is part of the plot in “The Plunderers” (1960) starring Jeff Chandler.

Start at the 43 minute mark for the meat.

At the beginning if you want the lead up story ... and quite a few memories for us ol' farts.

Never knew that Roy Rodgers was a “home boy”
(Confederate Officer) before he was the Lone Ranger.

Clayton Moore is The Lone Ranger and successfully fought a few 1st Ammendment and copyright battles concerning his mask.

Don't spit into the wind, tug on Superman's cape or mess with The Lone Ranger's mask

They say any difficult problem can be solved by asking “What would the Lone Ranger do?”

It's interesting how films and other media during the first half of the 20th century, from Birth of a Nation to Gone With the Wind, tended to portray the Confederacy as the heroic side in the Civil War. There was a concurrent political element to this with the Democratic Party (the party of the Confederacy, Slavery, the KKK, and Jim Crow) and Woodrow Wilson in control at the time the former was made, and FDR when GWTW and countless other (including this Singing Cowboy B) Confederacy sympathetic films were being made. Meanwhile, in real life Roy was a nice life long Republican boy from Cincinnati.

Roy Rogers, in his auto biography, said that he once met a guy who said that as a kid, he used to watch Roy’s tv show in the 1950s. According to the guy, he was an abused child whose parents beat him all the time. But he kept out of trouble by always asking himself: “what would Roy Rogers do?”. Not only that, he was now a police officer. And he finds that he still asks himself that same question from time to time while on the job.

Originally I accidentally came upon this movie while channel surfing almost around 25 years ago. I was living in Brooklyn, ny at the time and this movie was airing on a public station out of new jersey (channel 50 if I recall correctly). Because the station was so far away, the reception was quite fuzzy, but still watchable. This movie remained in ky memory all these years and I never saw it again until yesterday when I decided to look it up.
