Ahhh, we musta been like ships in the night. M.O. was my hangout between 64 and 71, when two of the finest road racing series in America were born. The ARRC turned into the outlandish CanAm run whut ya brung fest and the TransAm which was the acid dipped factory backed bad ass pony cars.

Were you the guy that missed the mud pit jump on the mini bike and ended up face down in three feet of muck chuggin down a Stroh’s?

I refuse to answer any questions about those events in Ohio, some of which I truly cannot remember.

I have lived since 71 in the home of the Chaparral and have sat in them before they were restored and are now on display in the Petroleum Museum.

Thru the years I had forgotten how physically small the CanAm cars actually were until I climbed into a Chaparral. Length, width and height the cars are crazy small.

Funny thing, a Formula Ford today is faster at Mid Ohio that the CanAm was. But gawd they would make a thunder from heaven on a standing start making your insides shake and your feet tingle. With todays brakes and tires as well as HP from a modern 500 cuin big block they would be crazy fast.

I never drank at car races, I was too serious about watching the cars, LOL.
It did inspire me to go into SCCA racing for 7 years and racing many times at Mid Ohio is an experience I’ll always treasure.

I didn’t either but I did spend plenty of weekends camping in the infield and there was lots of partying. I was just kidding so take a deep breath.

Road racing in west Texas is akin to walking on the moon and does not exist. So with no tracks I leaned towards off road racing Baja style, Road racing with no pavement and a third dimension, verticle added.

I will always treasure the time I had at MO as it was truly the finest road racing series in North America. One of my oldest friends started working for Mclaren in 69 sweeping floors and is still in professional racing today. He has quite the collection of three Indy 500 rings, multiple Cart championships, CanAm championships, ALMS championship and I think an IMSA championship. Quite the collection of trophys, ah dust collectors.

I hear them say during qualifying last night that the GP will not be carried on SPEED next year??

and it also sounded like they were going to sweep the announcers .... that would be a mistake

did I mention that over the years I really have grown to hate anything for a buck Bernie?

This sounds like a deal to broaden the US audience

it would be a mistake, and bernie is truly the bane of F1... how he got to the position of power he has is beyond me, unless it was blackmail

I'm guessing it will no longer be broadcast in real time and we'll get a version edited down to fit into a time slot

The last experiment to replace the broadcast team was a dreadful failure

any idea who will be broadcasting F1 next season?
