Goat has a distinctive flavor. It’s similar to lamb but more....goaty. LOL. The first time I had it was in Jamaica and I loved it. The Jamaican style uses different spices of course, lots of allspice and it’s hotter.

But the Indian variety is very, very good too. There’s a place by us that makes an outstanding version. Don’t be afraid to try it.

Goat curry was actually introduced in Jamaica by Indians. Jamaican goat curry is actually similar to Indian home cooked goat curry. The thing to remember is Indian home cooked food is vastly different from restaurant quality Indian food.

I am Indian (Raj Koothrappali kind, not casino).
There is just one thing hotter then Vindaloo. Its called Kohlapuri. Don't even smell it. Even the odor is HOT.

Kolhapur is a place south of Bombay. People living there finish a 15oz hot chilli powder packet in only a couple days. I just had Kolhapur once. I felt like my head was going to explode. And I can actually stand intense heat. Vindaloo has nothing on it.

I recall seeing an episode of “Man VS Food” on the Travel Channel, where the host visited an Indian restaurant in NYC that is reported to make the hottest curry on the planet. I don’t remember what it was called, but maybe this was the same thing.

The “chef” (chemist?) actually wore a respirator while cooking it!

If I recall correctly, it included pureed, whole ghost chilis!

I won’t say the planet but maybe the US. And the ghost peppers come from the state of Assam in India. In local language they are called Bhoot jolokia. People who pick ghost peppers wear special protective gears. They are not usually used for cooking. India uses those peppers to make pepper grenades for crowd control. Regular tear gas or water cannons are no good when you are dealing with a crowd of several millions. People will come and take a shower with the water cannons under the hot Indian. Ghost pepper grenades are found to be more effective.

That might be it. I don't remember the name of the place, but I had their roast beef dinner with Yorkshire Pudding, and it was OUTSTANDING!!!! And they had the most amazing banana cream pie!

I recall reading somewhere that Indian farmers will often string up ghost chillis around their land to keep the elephants our of their fields.
