He says that he opened his chute at the prearranged altitude. The guy has discipline—follow the plan because that’s the way you come out of it alive. Play around with the plan and get yourself killed.
He also said that, “so Joe [Kittenger] gets to keep one record [because Baumgartner followed the plan]? That’s great for Joe, Joe’s a great guy.” The guy has humility and decency too.
That was BEAUTIFUL!! And his landing was 1-2-3-4 steps - all upright! Better than a perfect gymnastics landing in the Olympics! (From my perspective...)
I watched the disengagement .as soon as he got to the steps he leaped. No pause. It seemed apparent he was eager
To complete the mission. I was expecting a longer pause before the leap.
Very brave guy. was happy when he got out of the roll.
