I’m one of the biggest Yankee fans you will meet but this year’s version of the Yankees are D.O.N.E, done, done, done.
It’ll take ten years to come back from this fiasco of a team. It’s a slow motion train wreck and we’ve seen this coming for the past few years. Great regular season, post-season collapse and their inability to get as much as a hit against slightly above average pitching with runners on base is legendary. They slowly became too comfortable and it’s biting them in the ass.
As a fan of the game, the Baltimore, Detroit match-up might have been a better series just because of the statistical over-performance of the Orioles and the under-performance of the Tigers.
Meh. On to football.
2 year contracts to every athlete in every sport with 3 one year retention rights for free agency.
You do better than the previous year, you go up X%. Do worse, go down X%. After 5 years you are up for negotiations with whatever a club wants to spend on you.
Then apply the same formula.
Owners can get a better handle on costs, players have to perform (Sorry A-Rod, when the joke is I am going as A-Rod for halloween because all I have to do is glue a bench to my a$$) and the fans get their monies worth because no player is going to dog it.
Another drought like 1979 - 1995? (Okay, there was the 1981 Series loss to the Dodgers in there but...)
