A trail of blood led police to an MBTA stop where a surveillance camera showed 14-year-old Ernest Watkins IV trying to use his Charlie Card to hop a Red Line train after allegedly stabbing a 39-year-old Dorchester man to death earlier this month, prosecutors said today.
A house key left at the scene of the murder also opened the door to Watkins’ home, prosecutors added.
The teen was ordered held without bail today after his arraignment in Dorchester District Court. Under Massachusetts law, he is being tried as an adult. A not guilty plea was entered for him.
Prosecutors said he stabbed Cherby LaJoie to death on Charles Street around 1:12 a.m., on Oct. 6. A law enforcement source said LaJoie was stabbed 37 times.

And he’ll get to take advantage of it soon because he’ll do less time than Michael Vick did for killing dogs.
