NEW YORK_ David Eckstein's playing days are behind him, and they include a 2006 World Series Most Valuable Player Award with The Cardinals and another World Series ring with the '03 Angels.
But his purest and most important contribution to a team is still to come.
the postseason legend told MLB.com on Friday that he probably will be donating one of his kidneys "within the next two years" to his sister.
My younger brother was born with only one kidney. My older brother lost one to disease. I possess half the male kidneys in the family.
I’ve suggested they might want to be a bit solicitous of my well-being and be sure I am happy with both of them. /s
2002 Angels.
Fans of the Cartoon Network series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” will recognize the voice of Eckstein’s wife Ashley - she voices Ahsoka.
And he’s a Gator.
Eckstein serendipitously ended up being traded to teams where, as a contributor, he earned some championship rings.
He is a genuinely nice character.
I might be donating a kidney to my sister in the next year or so
I donated on to my sis. Election night 2000. I kept waking up to a different president. The time I woke and they said it was pres gore I took a double shot of morphine. If he’s 2 years out he hasn’t taken the tests.for compatability yet. Not all siblings are compatabile...
I certainly hope I am compatible.
Me and my sister were born 51 weeks apart, lol. We’re the same age for a week.
Hope all goes well for both of you.
She did not know until she was 50 and had kidney stones.
The one kidney she had was twice the size of a normal one.
Hope you get to keep both of yours!
I have a lot of fond memories of David Eckstein as the sparkplug for the Anaheim Angeles World Series team in 2002.
A good player and a decent guy.
Angels....sheeesh
He was a great asset to The Angels - a real team player.
A nuisance to the opposing team.
He was a great favorite with the fans.
Your story is great...some of us could have done with a shot of morphine to get through those awful days in 2000.
.Hope you and your sister are both doing well.
Thank you
