In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

fulgurant \FUHL-gyer-uhnt\, adjective
Flashing like lightning.

Example sentences:
Now, as died the fulgurant rage that had supported her, and her normal strength being exhausted, a sudden weakness intervened, and she couldn't but allow Mike to lead her to a seat.
-- George Moore, Mike Fletcher: A Novel

He failed: the storm ran closer, fulgurant brilliance striding the sorry landscape like the stilted legs of some vast insect, the wind strengthening, carrying the odor of corruption, the thunder growling as if in anticipation.
-- Angus Wells, Wild Magic

Etymology:
Fulgurant is derived from the Latin word fulgurāre which meant "to flash like lightning."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

His fulminating flatulence turned into a fulgurant fireball when he lit a match.

We’ve grown tired of Obama’s fulgurant
brilliance and found it to be false and short lived.

All that work only to come in second place. (I’m working on obama’s concession speech)

A for you. There was an article this week about the popstar president and that same theory. It was published in the UK.

I’ve got a question for you. My daughter lives in NY, and she tells me that you folks have to sign the voter book when you vote. Furthermore, all your past signatures are on display right next to (or underneath) your current signature for comparison purposes.

Is this true? How do they manage that? (having all the previous signatures at hand) I’d be interested to know how that is accomplished. If the leftist judges, Voces de Frontera, and League of Women Voters don’t let us have our photo voter ID law back, signature comparisons would be the next best thing.

Fulgurant — what 0bama did when he found out someone had switched his coffee to decaf on the day of the first Presidential debate.

I sure hope I can find some bunker in the river this afternoon, those bait fish often splash or swim fulgurantly by to let me know where they are so I can snag them.

Fulgurant

A fulgurant is something that changes your tempture like my old Kelvinator was cold but needs to have more fulgurant or needs to be re-fulguranted. Or

It could be something that warms your gizzard on a cold day like coffee and when you get really mean till you’ve had your first six cups and go ona Fulgurant and don’t want to be bothered or someone isn’t going to be good til their last drop.

Woman...Where IS my coffee???

We sign a book in PA, but they don’t have previous signatures in it. I imagine if one wanted to, it would be possible to get the signatures from the driver’s license records for comparison.

Of course, then everyone would need to have a driver’s license or state photo ID, which is the “problem” today.

Mr. Biden, I closely followed your rant
Complete, utter bull$h!t, but fulgurant
And Barack acted lowly
With help from Ms. Crowley
Who whispered, “I don’t think we sold your plant”

My daughter says that when she votes in NY that all of her previous signatures are there to compare. The logistics of this method defy my imagination, but it sounds like a good idea.

We have only just started “signing the book” in WI (reform initiated by the Walker adminstration) but there are no comparisons.

I'm much better now....really I am. It's just that when I drop my warm feet on the cold cabin floor I don't want no one jabbering at me, no bright lights or noise. Just let me have my coffee, strong enough to have muscles, with a splash and stand back or pay the price.

I have only seen one signature when I sign in. We do sign and someone does compare our signatures. Where I live and vote all the men/women at the table already know me, so I doubt they look to closely.
