This is pretty amazing. Watch Central Valley High Schools Austin Rehkow makes a 67-yard field goal with two seconds left on the clock to send the game to overtime:

Austins team would go on to win the game in overtime.
If you need a little perspective on just how amazing that kick was, the NFL record for longest field goal is 63 yards.

FUNnominal!!! Can you imagine?
I read another article on this that said the opposing quarterback in this game had thrown for 577 yards in this game alone and had set a single season record for most yards.
The opposing quarterback is Mark Rypien's kid.
That isn’t always a permanent condition.
The best kicker in the world, Austin Rehkow, of Central Valley HS in Spokane Valley WA kicks a 67-yard field goal (yes, 67 yards!!!, maybe even 67 ¼ yards... look closely at the line of scrimmage) with 2 seconds left to tie game with Shadle Park HS at 55-55 (CV won 62-55) on October 18, 2012 at at Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane WA
“Yes. Didnt the officials believe that the flat front end of the boot helped him?”
And physics would agree with officials. The transfer of energy is greater if all things remain equal except the contact surface area.
There have been quite a few NFL kickers that grew up in the State of Washington. On a per capita basis, I doubt any other state has sent more to the NFL.
