Yeah, we got shafted here in Seattle too, the home of the Boeing Corp when the shuttle was designed and manufactured. The World renowned Air & Space Museum is at Boeing Field! They begged for one of the shuttles, just like Huston we got the shaft.

No American Rockwell Space Division, the home of Apollo and the Shuttle was in Downey in LA County It was designed/born there
And it was also built in Palmdale, also in LA County !!
The Shuttle was a Los Angeles County product...the people that designed and built the Shuttle live or did live in So Cal
If any place should have first dibs on a Shuttle it's Los Angeles / So Cal!
(I grew near Space Division in So Cal ... got to go in the full size Shuttle mock up at Downey back in 80 ..also used to have a piece of scrap tile...I knew alot of people that worked on it back then)
