Lovesick Dog Stands by Owner After Finding Him at the Hospital
abc news ^

Zander, a white samoyed-husky mix, navigated two miles of tricky neighborhoods and across a busy highway to find his owner who was in the hospital, and now he’s not leaving his side.

As John Dolan lay in his hospital bed at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Islip, N.Y., Sept. 27, he got a phone call from a hospital employee that he had to come get his dog. One problem, Dolan was inside the hospital and his wife, Priscilla, was asleep at home. When Zander and Dolan were finally reunited, they couldn’t be happier. “He’s my boy. He’s been glued to me ever since,” Dolan told “Good Morning America” today.

Dolan called his wife last Thursday to tell her to come get Zander outside the hospital. She didn’t know he was missing until she got the call. “We couldn’t believe it. I was sleeping and I was like, ‘Oh my God, what is he doing there?’” Priscilla Dolan told “GMA.”

While Dolan was in the hospital he was very sad and moping around the house, Priscilla Dolan said. He was missing his best friend.

Lovesick seems the wrong word - I think of it in romantic terms.

I was thinking the same thing. The proper word would be something like loyal.

NO GREATER LOYALTY, NO GREATER DEVOTION, NO GREATER FRIEND than a persons dog under all circumstances. Rich/poor, healthy/sick, homeless or live in a palace, they don’t care as long as they can be with us.
My greatest fear is if something happens to me, who will care for my boys and girls.

I have two Lhasas. The boy dog won’t go to bed until I do. He sticks to me like glue. We have both of our dogs in our will to make sure they’ll be taken care of.

Dogs are the best “kids” you can have. They don’t drive so you’re car insurance doesn’t go up. They’ll always love you no matter what. You don’t have to worry about them growing up and becoming a liberal. And you can have them fixed to make sure they don’t get pregnant or get someone else pregnant.

From the ‘Musings of Veteratoris’ -

Old dogs lay beneath your hand and calm your angst; young dogs guard you and your’s, making both their’s; puppies share their youth, wonder, and promise of tomorrow - and each gives his affection and loyalty without purse or promise.

Dogs are truly man’s best friend and companion, without peer.
