I cannot believe your posts. You aren’t going to be hit by this thing but some of our FRiends and family are!

If you can’t have any empathy for what people will be going through then maybe you should get off the thread!

Obviously none of your family is in danger. If they were you might care a tiny bit.

Because I’m not blaming the full moon for storm surge? Does it matter whether its full or not? It’s still there with the same gravitational effect.

It’s not half as powerful as Katrina was supposed to be. If the old levies hadn’t failed, that bowl would have stayed okay. Just because it is the east coast the MSM is putting on a spectacular show. People are acting like it is the first time water ever fell from the sky.

The hyperbole is what is amazing. ‘We never ever ever ever ever saw anything this bad in the history of the planet!’

11” storm surge... Katrina had 30” as someone pointed out and if those levies didn’t fail, nobody would remember it.

Nobody is doubting that there is a storm and that’s its dumping a lot of water. That isn’t exactly unprecedented. We get storms here. Power gets knocked out. Twisters are formed. We watch for rotation on weather radar. We marvel at how hail can fall when its spring or summer. People lose roofs, car windows shatter, low lying areas flood (we have well known flood plains and such, everyone knows where they are when the pump-houses and ravines aren’t enough)

Acting like its the first time, as if nobody has ever dealt with it before or as if they are totally unprepared has to be amazingly short-sighted.

Cities have snow plows and sand trucks because winter comes.

Flood plains, ravines, pumphouses etc are there because heavy rains do come.

It’s happened before.

We have fire departments. We don’t have TV news crews freaking out at every house fire as if its the first time anyone had ever seen fire before.

You know what else was in the news? Electric utility trucks from states all over the midwest being dispatched to the east in preparation for the damage. I am sure that every state and city is on alert. I am sure that evacuations have happened. I am sure that generators and supplies have been sold.

It’s not the end of the world. We have experienced things like this before. Let’s not freak out about it. Like a football player who goes nuts in the end zone... “stop it... just hand the ball to the ref and get to the sideline... act like you have been there before”

I don’t lack empathy. I am just being optimistic about it.
