Not that too many people care, but I am now at a friends using her computer. We lost EVERYTHING Monday @ 3;30 pm. My friend Caren and her lovely husband were the smart ones who learned from that last storm to get a generatorm
My area looks like a warzone, just as I'm sure eveyone else's does. Trees uprooted, wires down (I keep ducking, don't know why).
We were outside yesterday w/ the chainsaw (we were trapped in from the downed trees). Once we removed ours, we went to our neighbors to clear their trees and our street.
This is my first contact w/ the outside world...sorry if I sound dramatic but at least I am not crying anymore. Just hope my fellow FReepers are okay and hanging in there.
Looks like we won't have anything for a couple to a few weeks.
Prayers needed please. There are wires down all over the place....Lord help us when the lines are turned on.

I'm on the North Shore of Long Island, Suffolk County. It really really sucks here.
It is great to hear that you are ok... Keep up your faith and thank God that you and family/friends are ok!

Today was the 1st day I got to see any of the outside world since 3:30 pm Monday. May God Bless EVERYONE in NJ. Looks like the whore of babylon sandy took out most of that state.

Idea re boredom: Unless it's an area-wide outage, or walking around isn't safe yet, maybe there's a library close by with net access that you could loiter around in for a few hours ?

I spent all yesterday helping my sister and brother to get rid of two buttonwood trees that fell in her yard.
I’m here in NJ. Glad to hear that you are ok! Lots of people in NJ don’t have power and there are huge lines at gas stations for gas for their generators. My phone & power came on the middle of last nite so I consider myself very blessed. However, I have family down the shore area and Long Beach Island and I don’t know if that house is still standing. Everyone had to evacuate and it will be at least a couple days before they let people back on to LBI. The shoreline area took a huge hit.
I was thinking about you, NGZ, the other night as Sandy hit New York. Glad to hear you’re all right. Things can be replaced. People can’t. The Lord bless you and yours.

It's sad to see the pictures of the shore. My summers were spent in Seaside Heights on the boardwalk and beach and they're wrecked now. Our old shore house is most certainly flooded. It was on Barnegat Bay. I feel so sad for all those who lost family and homes. :(

My sister that lives on the island, has not gotten a chance to return home yet.
They are in a hotel further inland.
Not sure when they will let her back, but she did get someone to take a photo from a distane (across the bay) and the house is still intact but not sure of the damage.
