Living near water provided a lot of opportunities....mills, transportation, water to drink...water for crops....

Don't ever be down on living near water. Just build on the hilltop.

I will NEVER understand the stilt cr**...and why it is even allowed.

My grandmother lived in South Florida, so I grew up visiting her often. Her house was away from the water’s edge and was built with concrete block. It has withstood a lot of hurricanes. Of all the places hubby and I have lived, Virginia Beach was my favorite. We lived on high ground though that didn’t do a lot of good when the roads were flooded. Lol. Thankfully, the roads did not stay flooded for even a day.
