I never said that the votes for Johnson were greater than the overall margin of victory. I contend that the political capital squandered on SB5 is what really put Ohio out of our grasp. Ohio elected Kasich in a landslide in 2010. Then, he immediately went after unions and was rebuked in a 2011 referendum vote. That 2011 referendum vote was the harbinger of our doom in 2012. In two short years, we went from strong momentum in Ohio to getting our asses handed to us in Ohio. Then there was the whole Akin/Mourdock business that really sealed the deal with independents and moderates. Romney’s own words didn’t help him either. Nope, we played a shi**y game and got spanked for it. spanked black and blue. We’ll be feeling it for a long time.
