Yes, but my father was told by his financial advisor that taking early retirement and getting more payments for the rest of your life would result in him getting more over the long haul, not less. Me? I'm taking early retirement. That is, if the system is around in 7 years.

At 62, if I retire now, I get $1150/mo. At 65, I get $1625. At 67, I get $2350. Big diff. But by 67, it (SSI) probably will be either collapsed or run-dry.
