Until the Tea Party faction of the Republican Party can move into a majority position, the place for the Tea Party to be most effective is in the primaries. Trying to be successful as a third party will never be successful against the two party system, and will only result in liberals being elected. See how successful the Libertarian Party has been?. We need to start now for the 2014 Congressional elections.

You’re right of the most part, but we can’t simply just chalk it up to that. The RINOs are the architects of this disaster and it’s time for them to pay the price.

As you can see, I’m in.

Let’s do it! Screw you, RINOs!

Well I for one am not a millionaire. So if the millionaires have to go from 35 to 39% (Clinton era rates) and the rest of us don’t have to see our taxes rise then I for one am ok with using that as a chip to bargain with on our side. You?

A chip to bargain with on our side??? The only kind of compromise that they know of is the kind that compromises to them. We get snookered every time we try to deal with them. History has proven this. They don't deal or compromise, they just use the language against us to try to force us to do what they want.

They are robbers and money launderers and no, they shouldn't get more of anyone's money to steal and waste.

This Bible verse pretty well covers the spirit of dealing with them:

Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

I believe that is entirely up to the party in each state whether or not the primary is “open”. So it would be easy to change.

I don’t see why any party would have an open primary. I can understand the “jungle” style primaries where everybody runs in a first round. But to have a partisan election and let people from your adversary party vote, I just don’t get why that is not a recipe for mischief if not disaster.

The problem really wasn’t Romney, it was that all the good alternatives to him either didn’t run or self-destructed.

I mean what the heck happened to Rick Perry?

I am d.e.p.r.e.s.s.e.d.

I understand the bit about principles, and having something to support, and RINO's and their lukewarm mean-nothing too much compromise policies. I get all that. I really do.

But let me put an alternate viewpoint to you, based on practical politics.

The simple fact is that, barring divine intervention, only about ten of the fifty states were "in play". Only ten, tops, had any chance of going from Blue to Red, which is what would have had to happen if Romney was going to win. Similarly, only a few of the individual counties and voting districts in those ten states have any real chance of changing their minds. Most of the rural areas will vote GOP, most of the urban areas are solid democrat. Its a few counties on the borders in suburban areas that change.

The simple fact is that, in spite of all the ads and rhetoric, the high-blown analyses and criticisms of policy, the US election is effectively decided by a small number (less than 20,000) independent, undecided voters who happen to live in a few key districts in a few key States. The key to victory therefore is to appeal to them.

Now that is not easy, as many of them are swayed by very ephemeral things, like the color of a candidate's skin, or how nice a smile he has, or whether he's going to give me free stuff or not. I'm afraid that rigorous application of the constitution, or ideological Conservative purity, fine though they are, does not cut the mustard with these people. This is a very sad state of affairs and a major weakness of democratic systems - rule by the people assumes the people care enough about the real issues to make informed decisions - but unfortunately it doesn't seem this is so.

What I am asking is this. True conservatism appeals to people in general, of that I have no doubt. But does it appeal to the ones in the middle who basically are the ones who decide who wins? I don't know.

Gutsy - I too own a Corp (Subchapter S) that makes $800-900K gross sales per year on average. I employ 6 people including myself. You need to get a better accountant. There are a lot of legal and reasonable ways to reduce your corporate taxes and still enjoy the benefits of not having to lay off people. My company paid a total of $3950 on our 1120S form for 2011 on 704K total receipts (cash basis). I made $150K while the other 5 made $60K-$70K each. I also covered 50% of health insurance. So again, if $3950 on my 1120 (which goes to gov’t to pay for things like infrastructure, etc) then that’s not a crazy nut that’s putting me underwater (or affecting my upper middle class lifestyle). My wife makes $40K so we’re under $250K in payroll per year among us - which allows us to have a decent living. Get a good accountant. You’ll be amazed at what they can do.

Where are the jobs? We’ve had the lowest rate on the uber wealthy? Wouldn’t logic have dictated the jobs would have been coming for the past year or so?

No see the very wealthy no longer create jobs - they are investment bankers, bankers, lawyers and many who have inherited their wealth. So please get real. I don’t make a million a year but I employ 6 full timers and I am attempting to hire another in 2013.

Wow, I don’t know what to say to your disgusting, ignorant comment. However, bashing Allen West alone should be enough to get you booted from FR in my opinion.

I can’t stand RINOS. They are worse than b/c they are SPINELESS! I say let then leave the party, SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN, or either we leave. Either way, I will no longer be part of a party run by Democrats or Democrat Lite. Don’t threaten us with money cause after you gave us Obama, NO ONE is gonna money pretty soon.

NO COMPROMISING WITH COMMUNISTS, NOW OR EVER!

Where did I bash West - by stating the obvious that HE LOST. Give me a break? West went postal too many times which freaked the moderates in his district. So while what he said/did during the past 2 years may not have had any impact, it sure as heck did to a lot of moderate Republicans like myself and it sure did to the Dems that came out in force against him - and look what happened. Look what happened to Walsh and some others. Overall if the tea party and the moderates (which there are more of us) can’t come together then we’re all screwed. So stew on that point but the blunt reality is what it is.

All this mind numbing analysis and GOP navel gazing is getting old fast. No. It got old fast. I am still waiting for the pundit or Freeper to say “See, I told you we should have nominated X.”, and then explain how candidate X would have done better than Romney. Identifying problems without offering solutions is so simple anyone can do it. Blaming the candidate without offering an alternative is equally simple, and equally pointless.

Be prepared to hear all about lots of “voters staying home”...the Bipartisan Oligarchy would rather we all stew in that mess..than having us all bothered, and deciding to investigate, about all the voters voting who never voted...

Listening to descriptions of how “Democrats got out their ground game” with “superior ability to bring those to the polls who normally would never go” by the commentators on Fox election night..made me realize..what they actually have done is track names that HAVE NOT VOTED IN MANY, MANY elections cycles....and vote them.

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/10/23/No-Car-Finds-2-214-Registered-Voters-110-Years-of-Age-Older

A well-funded project, county-by-county..to examine the names signed in at at the polls..and going out to find those individuals..you’ll find they were never physically at he polls..or they themselves never filled out the absentee ballot....or their names in the death registers.

Did you see this? The 10 richest counties in the U.S. and 8 out of 10 went for jug-ears!!! Heard this on local radio and found this link. White guilt? I give up trying to *get it*.

Yep. I liked Perry, too. The Republicans didn’t get knocked out. It was a split decision. The Democrats are just grifters. We just have to lock up the public treasury. I think we’re also going to have to get a full-time, highly professional staff at the national and state levels.

Why don’t you tell us what And also, West was the victim of redistricting, so he lost a lot more Republican constituents and gained liberal ones, but I’m sure that had nothing at all to do with his election loss... Has he even lost after the recount? I haven’t even seen the results of that....

Great essay as usual, AN.

Here’s a bump, even if you did leave out voter fraud.

You’re a 1000% right, but we can’t overlook the fact that Conservatism wins. Look at Reagan’s landslides. It takes great messaging and being on point at all times.

This is a real mess. No question about it.

Voter fraud was, imho, absolutely rampant and the actual cause of this abomination dressed up as an election.

The MSM needs Ceaucescu treatment.
