Before I read the article, before I saw the picture from the surveillance camera, I made a prejudiced guess as to the ethnicity of the perpetrator. As in most of these types of news releases, my guess was confirmed. Why is my prejudice and stereotyping so often correct? If such a conclusion from scanty evidence is so often vindicated, why am I publicly castigated for such analysis?
I know the answer, but it's still depressing and so Orwellian.
