Petition started asking Obama to allow Texas to secede from the Union
White House Petitions site ^

"The US continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government's neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending. The citizens of the US suffer from blatant abuses of their rights such as the NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given that the state of Texas maintains a balanced budget and is the 15th largest economy in the world, it is practically feasible for Texas to withdraw from the union, and to do so would protect it's citizens' standard of living and re-secure their rights and liberties in accordance with the original ideas and beliefs of our founding fathers which are no longer being reflected by the federal government."

My (random) thoughts are as follows:

Things we can do NOW:

Start weaning ourselves off of FedGov handouts. The FedGov holds the handouts over the States’ heads and threatens to cut them off if the States don’t do what they want. Texas needs to get to the place where we can say, “Go ahead and withhold the funds.” That will also get us to the place where we can say, “And by the way, we will not be sending you (the FedGov) any more money.” States sending the FedGov money and then having the FedGov dole it back out is already “re-distribution.” Time to stop it! In addition, stop all welfare programs. Let the churches and private entities take up the slack. When the moochers quit getting hand-outs, they will re-locate.

Seal the border with Mexico, with whatever method will be the most effective. If the FedGov doesn’t like it, too bad so sad. What are they going to do to stop us? File another lawsuit? We must always remember that the County Sheriff is the ultimate law enforcement and that trespassers can be arrested. For that matter, we should probably begin setting up border fencing around all borders of the State in preparation for the day when we declare Independence.

If sealing the border with Mexico proves to be too difficult, a fence should be erected between the blue border counties and the surrounding red counties. That border would not be the U.S. - Mexico border, but would be the Texas border. The blue counties would end up being the no-man’s land – kind of a DMZ.

Texas has a Constitution in place. Article 1, Section 1 states: “FREEDOM AND SOVEREIGNTY OF STATE. Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States, and the maintenance of our free institutions and the perpetuity of the Union depend upon the preservation of the right of local self-government, unimpaired to all the States.” Texas is subject only to the CONSTITUTION of the U.S., not to the pResident or FedGov. There would be no need to re-write it if we are re-established as a Republic. We can merely amend it, as has always been done. The first amendment should be the requirements for voting, which should include, at a minimum, proof of citizenship and voter registration card. A voter registration card should be issued only when the person (or family) can produce one year’s worth of utility bills to prove that they have been living in the State for at least a year.

As other posters have mentioned, Texas is a state of mind. All like-minded conservatives should make every effort to move here. Texas has been a Republic in the past, and we can do it again. We have the natural resources (oil, timber, etc.), shipping and harbors, manufacturing (including defense mfg.), agriculture and livestock farming and ranching, banking, universities and research, advanced medical centers, highways and railroads, an international airport, cultural centers with state of the art facilities, and virtually any type of industry that is needed for a successful economy. Texas is what the U.S. used to be and we will carry the torch forward. I agree that we should move the Statue of Liberty to Galveston Island (which was as big an immigration center as New York at one time). If we roll back immigration laws to require those who enter to have a strong desire to assimilate to our culture – rather than take it over – they would be welcome as productive members of our society.

As a symbol of my commitment to the Republic of Texas, I intend to fly the “deZavala” Flag. The deZavala flag is blue with a white lone star in the middle, with the letters T-E-X-A-S between the points. It thus has two layers of meaning: 1) it was one of the first flags of Texas Independence and 2) it closely resembles the Bonnie Blue Flag (States’ Rights!).

BTW, at the present rate of grown of Obamanation Communism in the former USA, Secession might, could, come about “Sooner” than the flick of a lamb’s tail."""".....

One can hope.

It has to be quick, somehow I don't see how, but I hope.

If things are done slowly, all I can say is that is to late.....Remember WACO.

WACO, in my opinion was NOTHING more than::..,"This will teach all who are watching, you will not stockpile weapons, you will not seclude yourselves, you will learn to OBEY. The gov't does not FEAR the blue states, they FEAR all the RED STATES.

Remember too: They demonized ALL the militia's.

Remember, those people at that compound were NOT HURTING ANY OF US.

BENGHAZI is the today version of WACO.

New TEXAS battle-cry: "REMEMBER WACO" of course never to forget "REMEMBER THE ALAMO", but Remember Waco applies to us at this Moment in time.

I think WACO should be our wake up call, as to just how dangerous this Gov't is. We just did not recognize it at that time, well some did.

Very Good points...

Consider too about the MOOCHERS and others so inclined. They most likely will remove themselves to those states that just passed the new Marijuana laws.

“Go ahead and withhold the funds.”, if I remember correctly Okla. had talked about doing just that a few years ago. Thank God Okla., is fully vested with Republican Gov. and both houses.

Remember the Alamo....Remember Waco........

How are we going to communicate with each other if the Obamatator and his regime shut down sites like this?

We need to be thinking about that.

“Don’t ask for permission, just do it!”

Don’t forget. It all started with a petition to the King.

and each region taking with them their proportionate, (based on population), share of the former USA National Debt.

I'd rather it be based on the vote and not population. I'll happily take the hit for the Bush spending, but the State of Texas never voted for Obama and I see no reason for the new Republic of Texas (or whatever you want to call our "zone") to incur his debt. Let those who voted for it eat it.

” - - - Let those who voted for it eat it. - - - “

Great Point! Be sure to bring that idea to the floor at your State Constitutional Convention.

I intend to propose that all National Debt incurred by the US Federal Government after the plunge from this first of MANY Fiscal Cliffs be charged to precincts whose 2012 vote totals exceeded the 2012 registered voter totals. (That is one way to find out where the illegal aliens who vote live.)

There’ll be all red states in ten years...but not the red you’re thinking of right now, comrade.

Bravo!!! The petitions are now for 15 states.I do not see the White House saying,”ok go ahead.” You are correct I think this is just a baby step towards an independent Texas.the big issue would come if they try to take away our right to bare arms.If Texas can possibly do it many states will follow. I will be the one holding the sign that says hey obama how do you like us now?Signed Texas

Yup. Maybe someday there will be a US Postage Stamp of a young Mother holding her tiny baby behind a wooden door as the FBI sniper bullet enters the door of the Mountain Cabin at Ruby Ridge - - - .

Give me a shotgun, lol. I can learn to reload shells.

Actually had to show that shotgun to three black thugs that came to my front door, didn't think anyone was home.

They rang the doorbell, that's when I flipped the light on, stunned they said "Is MO hea".

Giggling inside I ask "Who'd you say".

Them: "Mo, is he hea"...OMG they really said that? YES they did. lol

I raised the shotgun, pointed and told them "You get your black azz off my front porch, or yo mammys gonna clean you up".

Stunned they hesitated, I thought your kidding, you going to try it, come on, idiots.

Then I called the police: they wanted me to describe them. lol.

I said they were black, black clothing.

Officer asked: "What color hair", uh DUH

She asked: "What color eyes"....yes she did....lol

When the officer came, I told him that he better tell his buddies to stay away from my house.

He said "Buddies", yes, your buddies. You know the same ones that broke in here about 6 months ago, you caught them (I learned later), and let them go. (without telling me anything). THEIR BUDDIES/police fences.

So yes, I can use that shotgun. Hubby came home later and saw the gun out. Said I should have held it up and said "Yeah!, meet MO"......rofl
