Prediction: Obama and Democrat Party will seek to have the Presidential 2-term limit law changed to enable him to remain in office. Wanted to be the first to predict that here.
I have a lot of libertarians on my politics only Facebook account. As well as free market anarchists/voluntaryists—they were all clearly far more OK with Obama winning over Romney. In fact, most really detest the republicans and conservatives. Makes zero sense to me but it’s true.
Ya think? Look at Latin/S America —something like 33% or 36% white population —consistently communist/leftist. We aren’t far from that tipping point.
I’ve said since Tuesday, that they voted revenge... they hate the conservatives more than they love this country. They do not want anyone who has better morals, so they have to lower the bar for their own self worth. They can’t stand good!
As incredible as it may seem, some people here simply haven’t seem him for what he truly is yet. I don’t know how anyone paying attention could miss it, but many have. Maybe it’s normalcy bias. Maybe they just love their country too much to come to terms with it.

This will be a huge gift to the Obama administration, and a huge opportunity for Obama to squeeze political contributions from thousands of productive companies. Shakedown city, leading to American socialism, by the same process that Venezuela's oil wealth led to Hugo Chavez's rise.

Goldman Sachs see the U.S. as the leading oil producer by 2017. Good for the U.S., but far better for Obama and the Democratic Party. U.S. will actually strengthen its superpower position. The number of active oil drilling rigs has already gone through the roof. The collapse in natural gas prices will soon be followed by a collapse in oil prices (oil inventories in the U.S. are already at a near-record highs).
Gas is already displacing oil and coal as fuel sources. Using natural gas can save a big-rig trucker almost $20K/year in fuel prices. Switching millions of trucks to natural gas can save over 1 million barrels of oil per day. The market will eventually equalize the price of gas and oil, by increasing exports and consequently increasing prices.
Exports of natural gas will put Obama in the catbird seat, building his personal power around the world (a la Putin and Chavez). Millions of Americans will applaud the extension of Obama's power because they'll be getting more free stuff. Socialism will gain even more favor, leading to a third term for Obama.
Investment advice: you can make money by investing in natural gas and oil. We can't avoid socialism: almost everyone will soon be feeding at the government trough. But you can make money through private enterprise, by investing in the tool-makers and the infrastructure needed to get oil and gas to market (as in the past, Britain and Royal Dutch Shell profited from the discovery of oil in Indonesia by building the Suez Canal.) We need a huge investment in LNG terminals and tankers. Stansberry recommends an unnamed shipping company as a "sure thing" and another unnamed company that is the only company that is building LNG terminals for operation in the near future. Obama will decide who gets the license to operate the terminal, when he gets good and ready -- i.e., when the political donations are large enough.
A third way to make money: invest in an electric company who will soon see much lower energy prices, hence much larger profits. 900 of the next 1000 power plants will be natural gas rather than coal.
A fourth way: invest in the takeover of an Israeli offshore natural gas producer (ATP Oil and Gas, ATPG) who is still undervalued, because the company is bankrupt. But buy the assets, not the company, for pennies on the dollars, by buying the company's bonds as "distressed debt".

The one that gets me is Prohibition (I’m too lazy to look up the numbers of the amendments, sorry). I know the battle for Prohibition went on for decades, if not longer, finally they got the Amendment passed. Then, only a very few years later they got it overturned! Also the vote for 18 year olds seemed to get passed pretty quickly and the post civil war amendments too, but that was special circumstances.
NYC did get their term limits law changed to 3 terms (sooooo stuuuuupid), but I very much doubt Obama could get the constitution amended in 4 years to allow him more time in office. I’d like to see him try though.

You’re a couple years late - folks on FR have been predicting it evre since parts of the Obama Care atrocity was “deemed to have been passed” and when it was also clear about the folks he was surrounding himself with.

However, I do believe this is about de-industrializing the US.
I’m afraid I don’t share your optimism as to the length an Obama controlled court would go. Who is going to stop them? The media will back it 100%, the new majority will demand it and only the racist white republican minority will even question it. Stayed tuned, this isn’t your country anymore. This isn’t a country ruled by laws anymore, it is a country ruled by the emotions and passions of the masses.
Check out the turnout numbers in Philly, Cleveland, Miami-Dade, St. Lucie and Broward counties in Fl. and Portsmouth county Va., and I’m sure there are others. Nobody on our side is asking for recounts or investigations except West and the courts have refused to impound the ballots last I heard. We now live in a banana republic my friend.
