Do you have a reliable, independent source of water?
No. We have "city" water. However, I do live close to the bay and have a very low water table so I guess I could dig a hole and dip water out of it to sterilize.
Probably not a good idea though...

FYI, cheaperthandirt has some cheap ceramic water filters, .5 micron i think
