Help! problems with my Computer again HP 2159m LCD monitor - Vanity

I having trouble with my monitor driver again. I have a HP 2159m LCD monitor however the driver is not "attached" and my resolution is reduced to 1600 X 1200. I tried HP support and restore file to last night before the problem. I am getting really angry about this. I keep trying to install it, it is says it is installed but it will not allow me to select it.

Help!

You may need to use an uninstall driver then install the new driver.

do you have a restore point you can try??? if not when you get it fixed this time do a restore point that might help out in the future if this happens again

Are you talking about the driver for your monitor, or the driver/software for your video card?

The native resolution of that monitor is 1920 x 1080 factory-set. Can your video card handle that?

Now it is fixed, I disconnected it and reconnected it and now it is fixed.

Support for HDCP enables the monitor to display HDTV resolution if connected by the DVI connector. A monitor without HDCP support, or connected by analog VGA, causes the displayed video to be downgraded in quality to a DVD-like resolution that is less than HDTV.

Are you using the DVI connector?

1. Is the problem the computer having this time the same as last time
2. Since the computer thinks the driver is there, then can you uninstall it
3. Can you actually see the drivers in the folder it’s supposed to be in
4. More information as to what exactly are the steps you are trying to do would help
5. I checked HP and it must be a windows OS

Lots of times you can find the Nvidia control center and correct things from there maybe just needs to rewrite a file not a complete install of the driver. Find the control center and reset the resolution to what it is supposed to be and reboot that just may do it.

First, here’s the driver for your flat panel:

The resolution you are capable of achieving/seeing is dependent upon two things: A) the resolution that the display itself is capable of, and B) the resolution that your graphics card or chip is capable of.

If you have the monitor displayed to a laptop, you’re definitely using a graphics chip. If a desktop.....either a chip or a board.

To find out what you have for a “graphics engine”, do this:

If you see “Computer” on your Windows desktop, right click on it, select “Manage”. If you don’t see “Computer” (used to be called “My Computer” in Win2K and WinXP), then click on the Start button; look in the right hand column and you’ll see it....do the same thing.

Once the “Computer Management” box comes up, in the far left column, click on “Device Manager”. To the right of that column, you will see a listing of all your computer’s devices.

Look for “Display Adapters”. You will see a “+” sign to the left of the words “Display Adapters”....click on that. You will see what graphics card/chip that you have. You can right click on that, select “Update Driver Software”.

If you have the latest driver installed on your system, it will do just that....update to the latest.

Actually, what that did was allow/force Windoze to identify/re-identify/correctly identify the monitor and then go "Aha! I have a driver for that..." at which point things got all better!

Well, that's sort of the layman's generic description, but it's real close to the truth!

Now that it's working ... did this happen after the multipatch Windoze update of yesterday/today?

(I'm hearing about a lot of strange things happening after the update, most of which seem to eventually straighten themselves out. My experience was that after rebooting, my mouse buttons were backwards, meaning that they reverted to default which is for wrong-handed people. Since I am right-handed - the opposite of wrong-handed, my mouse buttons are reversed from what they would be for the default wrong-handed person... But before I could get into control panel and fix it, the situation corrected itself. Very strange..)
