I didn’t realize Capt Rickenbacker was lost and then found on the survival vehicle. Makes one think, “What if?”
Rickenbacker had an interesting life; WW1 ace, President of Eastern Airlines, automobile racing pioneer, survivor of the ordeal at sea in today’s paper. Of course, the one thing most dear to me was as owner of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He closed it after Pearl Harbor, and when Tony Hulman bought it in 1946, it had fallen into considerable decay in just four years.
But, when I die and go to heaven, I expect heaven to be a warm, sunny beach. Across the road from the beach will be the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. You can’t miss it; it’s right between Wrigley Field and Assembly Hall.
