Neither was psychology, yet everyone quotes his definition of insanity. If his definition were correct, we wouldn’t need mental hospitals—just maybe a dog for everyone and plenty of chocolate.

His definition of insanity was probably not original; people just ascribe it to him to borrow some authority. He didn’t have a lot to offer outside his field but he did fundamentally change how humanity sees the universe; a pretty uncommon achievement.
