Get over it. It is a sports thing. I live in one of the two communities adjacent to Ft. Hood (grew up here) so I do know a little something about the service of military members. I have spent my entire career serving the children of those who serve our country. Yes, I know, too, that U.T. is extremely liberal and a&m is conservative. Again, it’s a sports thing. I don’t care about U.T.’s politics when I am watching games. I think a&m’s traditions are beyond silly. The male cheerleaders who look and act like they’ve just escaped the asylum or are swabbing the deck or...whatever they seem to be doing, are strange, okay? And burying Lassie under Kyle Field and treating it like sacred ground? Also strange. Listen, everyone in the state of Texas has had to put up with the aggies’ obnoxious fans forever; it’s just sad that aggie fans can’t take what they dish out. Case in point: your need to make like Dryman and I are The Devil for ribbing the ags. You must not spend much time on sports threads. Our comments were quite tame, I can assure you.

I appreciate your husband’s service and am so glad he is home with you for Thanksgiving!

Thank you for serving our kids. It’s much appreciated. (But please tell me you’re not a teacher with manners and an attitude like yours.)

And make fun of them all you want, but you know as well as I do that those silly traditions are steeped in military history. Nice that there are still places where ridiculous things like that even survive. Would think they might be appreciated by someone who prides himself in serving military families ... especially at Ft Hood where those guys still wear their Stetsons and ride horseback. Whatever.

And you’re right ... I don’t usually peruse these sports threads. I was coming here to congratulate the Bears on their win ... two schools on the Brazos River knocking off the #1 teams two weeks in a row. I thought it was kinda cool ... until I read these comments.

I’m over it.
