How about the practical side of things? You replace Google’s OS with Linux, and what happens? There is a deal with Google re cloud storage, support, etc. Details, please.

Silly question: would we be able to run “Final Cut Pro” or Sony Vegas on this guy...?

It would not run software made for windows, then..? Like it could not run Word?

Android operating system makes it useless with business applications. Additionally, the last Andriod update has just about rendered my Asus tablet frustrating to use for just about any application

There was a good review of this over on engadget. The screen is pretty low res. I know that people have gotten Ubuntu 12.04 LTS running on it but I thought I read that only an unofficial Alpha build was available. Have they made more progress on that front?

I like Ubuntu. Using VirtualBox to run the few Windows applications I have to run for engineering design, I could probably get by with one of these laptops.

I need some kind of option. I REFUSE to buy Windows 8.

I love Ubuntu and have been running it on a HP netbook a bit long in the tooth. This looks like a great upgrade.

To all those unfamiliar with Linux; it is a great alternative to wondoze, many comparable (and free) apps. It is much more friendly than it used to be.

Can you completely purge everything Google and go straight Ubuntu?

I don't trust those Obama supporting Rat ********s as far as I can throw them.

If I could strip it and go I am in....

I bought a Chromebox a month or so ago, but so far I’ve only used it as intended, running the Chrome browser, and seeing how much of my computing I can get done “in the cloud”. So far, I’ve been able to do pretty much everything I need to do, but that also includes remotely accessing my work network, which includes all of the Microsoft productivity apps. At some point down the road, I’ll probably play around with loading a Linux distro on it to see how it would work. But even as intended, it’s a cheap, fast computer that can do 95% of what most people do on their home computers these days, and even work computers, to the extent that cloud computing is taking over the workplace.
