How old was Dylan when he wrote that.

I think he was 40 or 41. But it’s been awhile since I studied it.

Right on! Though they sap our passion with their drip drip drip of liberalism, we can still win. We only need to stand together and fight!

I watched the entire video and Rooster (my cat) would agree with it but he's out in the front yard at the moment.
He's a pistol...maybe a little too much so.
God bless...and God bless the resistance.

I was thinking the poem is great I suppose, but a lot of the fight he speaks of goes out of the aged.
I kinda thought it was written by a younger man trying to keep his father from giving up the fight. I could be wrong.

Not a poem about dying so much as a poem about surrender. No, it's a poem about both dying and surrender. Supposedly, it was written by Thomas for his dying father, in an effort to encourage him to keep on fighting and to never lose that spark for life.
It's a truly great villanelle.
Good citation.

Until the GOP in Congress call the Democrats out as Socialists/Communists/Marxists in a very public way.. Until the GOP tells blacks/Hispanics/females/gays they can no longer hide behind their 'class cards' to wage war on our Constitution.. Until the GOP blasts the media for their deplorable bias.. Until the GOP threatens 0bama and members of his regime with impeachment for their Unconstitutional acts.. Until Boehner grows a pair.. Until toleration of impeachable offenses ceases.. AMERICA WILL CONTINUE TO BE ABOLISHED.
Here's just ONE example. The 0bama administration is PROMOTING ENTITLEMENTS FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS.. Where's the outrage?!!!
In a word (or two): WE'RE SCREWED.

And to feel free to let go...that I would take care of things so that he shouldn't worry.
That poem means a lot to me.

WE'RE SCREWED.Get a frikken grip...we're not screwed. We're just beginning.
Truth wins, bullsh!t loses.
It won't be easy, but we must have faith.
When you are right...you must have confidence in that.
God is with us...what more do we need?

You are correct. Nothing will happen, nothing will change for the better until the communists hijacking the country are exposed.

I'm sorry for your loss. Your father no doubt considered himself blessed to have you there at his side at this time. I'm sure you do too.
A great poem, at certain times, can have real emotional power. The Thomas poem is one such. Another one is e e cummings' poem "My Father Moved Through Dooms Of Love." It too was written for the poet's father, and e e cummings always considered it to be his best poem (out of hundreds of great works). It's my favorite of his too.
It's a little on the artsy side, but it's a great tribute to the most remarkable and heroic men in our lives -- our fathers.
Sad to say, they don't make poems like these anymore.
I urge you to check it out. (But I've warned you: it's a bit artsy!) :^)

I don't know about artsy...but it will take a quite a while to absorb/understand and digest.
A beautiful poem...but an encyclopedia of language and emotion.
Thanks for that poem/link and your thoughtfulness.
