I have never really under stood these fog crashes all that well. Where I lived in Denver a few years back the shortest way to the highway for me was always through some of the foggiest conditions I have ever seen. The fag was there pretty much ever day due to the waste water plant dumping warm water into the South Platte river in the river basin right were the 2 lane road went over the bridge.
My first thought was always to slow down due to the limited visibility and not to speed up to get through it faster.

Yeah, everyone should drive 45mph on the freeways so the old farts with cataracts that shouldn’t be driving in the first place feel comfortable.
