Good afternoon/evening FReepers. Yep, it is Beer Thirty Time Once Again!

My Cranberry Mead I started a year ago this month

Good evening/afternoon brewers and winemakers. I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends. Wife and I popped the top on another swing top bottle of my Cranberry Mead to have with our Turkey dinner and all the fixings. It is really a very nice and tasty honey wine. This has surprised my wife; she could not believe I really made it and that it tastes good. She rarely drinks and does not enjoy my homemade beers or any beer for that matter.

I am hoping that the 5 gallons of my apple cider I started a week or two ago turns out to be as good and she can enjoy it also. I plan on letting it sit and age for about six months before bottling.

I hope all of you and your Brews and Wines are doing well. Stop by and share what you are brewing or let us know what your favorite brew, wine or spirit is.

That mead looks beautiful. I have a question for you and your list. I want to surprise Hubby with wine making kit for Christmas. He has some grapes frozen that he wants to make into wine.

Any recommendations for decent moderate priced/best buy equipment would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any of the starter kits from the better mail order places will work fine.

Morebeer.com

Northernbrewer.com

The biggest issue I have found for beginners is the pot itself.

7 gallons at a minimum, and they don’t give them away. Expect to spend 150 bucks on a complete starter kit that includes the first batch. The pot however is another matter.

Cheers,

I agree with knewshound.

Morebeer is one web store that offers free shipping if you buy over a certain price - I think it is $50. Good place to purchase your start up equipment, as it can be heavy. If you are only going to be making wines you will not need a Boiling pot as you would need for Beer. You can get a complete kit that includes Bottles for around $150 - $200.

The first link above is to a kit from "Midwest Supplies" the second link is to "More Wine making" which is the same company as MoreBeer. I have used both web stores and have no complaints with either.

It will be on ESPNU which is the only ESPN channel I don't get. Drats! Yes to Hail State! But they better watch out Ole Miss has a good team. I have had to many High hopes for State in the past! But was at the game in Jackson, Ms when they beat #1 Alabama 6 to 3 in 1980!

Video - Mississipi State Beats #1 Alabama 6 to 3 - 1980 - with the great Jack Crystal making the call!

SHOCKER!

Just watched Alabama take care of Auburn and now over to Texas A&m vs Missouri. Go Johnny Football!
