Last sentence:
Desperate people do desperate things, and someday if there was a major economic breakdown in the United States I think the level of desperation in this country would be extremely frightening.
Our President is a ‘Banana Republic’ Democrat. Have you ever wondered why Latin America or Africa or the Middle East are the way they are.
In four years, with the job done, our leader will be able to say, “that was a job well done”.
This is certainly a sign. http://www.ydr.com/crime/ci_22058558/york-police-one-dead-at-veterans-political-association
Except for one thing, there will not be riots if there is a major economic breakdown. These Black Friday riots are in response to evil Capitalism, there will be no riots if the gubmint fails to pay welfare or unemployment. After all the gubmint cannot be blamed for its failure. (sarc)
In a just world these (ahem) people would off each other
This article is talking about one segment of American society that truly is a national problem. But I was in the midst of Hurricane Sandy and there was no looting or nasty shoppers in supermarkets. My next door neighbor shared his generator with me. I thanked him afterwards by giving him a gift certificate to a nice restaurant.
Decent people aren’t lining up outside box stores on “Black Friday.” (Isn’t that racist??)

See the Black lady helping the old White lady who had fallen? Maybe there’s still hope for this severely torn and divided country.
Mindless people stampeding for useless glitz at increased costs never realizing "on sale" means ... FOR sale.
I'm glad I'm an ol' fart and I truly feel bad for younger people.

Yes, we are not a homogeneous society and are a society of immigrants from around the world. We absorb the best and the worst of people who come to this country.
Japan is a homogeneous society with a very disciplined population.
As one of the posters in the TEC site observed:
“During Japanese Tsunami last year, I remember, people had lost everything and yet, when foods were distributed, everyone stood in line and waited for their turn. Their was not even a single incidence of violence, loot and rioting during Japanese Tsunami aftermath.”
Here in America unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that every neighborhood will be like yours.
Buy what you will need to feed and defend yourself now while it is still cheap. When it is needed, its costs will skyrocket and then it will be gone.
Evan Fraser, author of Empires of Food and a geography lecturer at Guelph University in Ontario, Canada, says: “For six of the last 11 years the world has consumed more food than it has grown.
If I didn’t already doubt what comes out of liberal Universities...
I’m seriously thinking of investing in body armor.
I saw that in the picture and thought the same thing, then I thought how did this old lady get that old when she is that stupid to get into a mob like that.
If 55% of Americans have less than 3 days of food, you can be pretty certain that of the remaining 45% of Americans with more food, very few voted for 0bama. And then when you consider the US election map at the county level, it is evident that the least prepared live in urban areas and inner ring suburbs. Furthermore, with respect to urban areas, the ratio between law abiding citizens with firearms to criminals with firearms is much lower in the cities than in the suburbs and country.
So in the cities, we have unprepared, unarmed, unintelligent 0bama voters facing critical food and water shortages and without the ability to defend themselves and their property. Depending on how things unfold, the cities could be transformed into police states. Those in the outlying areas will need to find a way to communicate and form enclaves, otherwise, we will be subjected to the same oppression as in the cities.
Could be the Yakusa were doing the distribution....
I read of an earlier earthquake when the Yakuza rolled up with trucks loaded with food, water, blankets and electric generators.
Also took care of any miscreants.
The media makes people (especially foreigners) think that 90% of Americans are lined up at 5 am waiting for the stores to open and knocking people and doors down when it does open. The total number of truly crazy shoppers numbers under one million. About one third of one percent of the population. But it makes good press so libs can bewail a free-market economy. “Oh no, look what capitalism does to people...it makes them crazy and violent.. (sniff, sniff, sob)”
