Barzel means literally iron. It is one of the 5 PRINCIPLES of the JDL.
I Ahavat Yisroel – Love of Jewry
II Hadar – Dignity and Pride
III Barzel – Iron
IV Mishmaat – Discipline and Unity
V Bitachon – Faith in the Indestructability of the Jewish People.

The translation is Iron Dome.

“Kipa” can mean: covering, yamulka, dome, cupola.

“Barzel” can mean: metal, steel, iron.

So Iron Dome is appropriate.

Yes, it is a literal translation. Kipat Barzel = Iron Dome.

Speaking Hebrew doesn’t do me much good under the regime of Dear Leader. I am studying Ebonics so I can say things like “I be wantin’ my Obamaphone!”
