Yep, seems too many cops just LOOOOOOVE to shoot people’s dogs as an expression of their contempt for the communities they supposedly serve. They shoot the people, too, when they think they can get away with it.

When I was Base Police @ NAS Fallon, NV in the Mid-80s the ONLY time I came even CLOSE to un-holstering my weapon was in Navy Housing when a BIG BLack Dog(someone’s pet/breed unknown) had scaled the backyard fence and was running the neighborhood. Anyway We (my partner and I) arrived on the scene and was trying to 1. find out where the dog came from and 2. put it back in the yard. I tried to call the dog and this dog(HE WAS HUGE) growled twice and I reached down and unfastened my retainer strap that held my weapon in the holster and PRAYED “Lord PLEASE don’t make me have to SHOOT this dog(1. The Paperwork for an expended US Navy Bullet in the Mid-80s was HORRENDOUS and 2. I did not want to have to kill somebody’s pet). Anyway he(or she) growled again and scaled the fence and got back into the yard(hopefully the right one). We issued the occupants a ticket for having their pet unsecured. I then breathed a sigh of releif.

This is just sad. I thought their job was to call animal control. I hope these 3 lose their jobs.

Cops are basically gang-bangers with badges.

This article made me CRY!
Newfies are nothing but giant, sweet slobbery babies.
I’ve never seen a mean one, ever.
That poor family.

I’d be out for serious revenge if someone did this to either of my dogs.

Shoot a police dog = be treated as though you shot a police officer.

Shoot a private citizen’s dog = “It was just a dog....”

The best thing about these threads is that it shows that people's eyes are slowly being awakened to the fact that LEOs are not their friends. The worst thing about them is there are so many of them.

I will sign that petition.

THis has gotten totally out of line. These guys think thye can shoot anyone or anything and walk away. If they loose in court, the taxpayers pick up the bill.

We need civilian review boards - NOW.

We don’t want these “COWARDS” as police officers. They are afraid of “DOGS”???? What if they came in contact with a dangerous criminal?

I was a residential plumber for over 30 years. I have been to, somewhere in the neighborhood, of 15,000 homes. Many had dogs. Many owners were not home. In all that time I was only bitten, I mean nipped, twice by an ankle biters while the owners stood right there. (Beware Poodles! Shoot on sight!)

I only felt in danger to the point I would have to defend myself, twice. Once a chained dog went berserk every time I passed him. Had he broken the chain, I was sure he would attack me as he was in a frenzy. It didn’t, he didn’t.

The other time, a neighbors dog came charging across the empty lot between the houses. He was at full speed. It didn’t look like he was going to stop. I expected him to jump for my throat when he reached me. I dropped my tools except for the 18” pipe wrench I was carrying. I was preparing to time my swing with his launch and hit him in the head with all my strength, probably killing him. At the last second, the owner whistled for the dog and he stopped dead in his tracks and returned home.

Was he actually going to jump for my throat? I don’t know. He did show me that he could stop on a dime. Maybe he was trying to scare me (it worked) and would stop short of me and just bark.

First of all it’s a DOG! It’s not a bear. It’s not a wolf. These are GROWN MEN who are so afraid of being “bitten” by a dog, that they shoot people’s pets first and ask questions later.

In all the cases I have seen, the dogs were NOT attacking, only protecting/defending, as dogs are wired to do.

Which do today’s cops love more? Shooting dogs or eating doughnuts?
