Quite frankly, parents who send their children to government-run schools deserve just about whatever they get.
The system is designed to produce compliant, non-independent thinking little secular humanists.
Because good people refuse to get involved. 40 years ago the elementary school I went to was going to stop bus transportation if you lived within a certain distance. My father drove the routes and figured that we were outside of that radius. The superintendent told him that the distance was "As the crow flies." My father explained that children don't cut through yards etc...,and asked how to get it changed. The superintendent told him he had to be on the board. My father got on the board and got the policy changed. As Gandhi said "Be the change you want in the world."
