You have heard of God the Father, but have you heard of God the Mother? If so, you probably heard it from a group of students from Collin College and the World Mission Society Church of God who hosted a seminar this week at the Spring Creek Campus.
The title of the seminar was "Feminism and God the Mother." Students from Collin College and members of the Church of God presented the idea that God has a female image, not only a male image.
"For a long time people viewed God as a male because this was a male centered society, however, recently the ideas toward the inequality of men and women have changed, preparing the way for people to recognize the female image in the Creator Spirit," said Victoria Lyons, a first year student at Collin College. "God the Mother exists and is testified in many Scriptures in the Bible," she added.
The Church of God believes that God the Mother should come in the flesh as a woman and uses various Scriptures to make their point. One of them is in Revelation 22:17, which reads, "The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' Whoever wishes come!'"
The seminar will take place once more this semester on December 2 from 3:15-5 p.m. at the Spring Creek Campus. Victoria Lyons concluded the seminar by saying, "All life is given by mothers. If we are God's children shouldn't we also have God the Mother?" To many people who know God as "Father" it would be interesting to know the answer, who is God the Mother?
Ah, the joys of private judgment.
Diana of Ephesus. Been there, done that.
That is a wiccan thing. And modern druids.
The World Mission Society Church of God (Korean: ) was founded by Ahn Sahng-hong in 1964. The church believes that he is the second coming of Christ because of his fulfillment of prophecies. Ahn Sahng-Hong, died in 1985 leaving the leadership of the church to his spiritual wife, Zahng Gil-Jah, known in the church as “the Heavenly Mother”,[1] and the General Pastor is Kim Joo-Cheol. ...
The church believes that Zahng Gil-Jah is “God the Mother,” who they believe is referred to in the Bible as the New Jerusalem Mother (Gal 4:26), and that Ahn Sahng-Hong is God the Father.
Whenever G-d the Father is mentioned in the OT it’s actually G-d the Creator in Hebrew. G-d is the Father of Creation, hence .....
God is neither male nor female. He is SPIRIT.
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)
We are made in His image and likeness...as spirits destined for unity with Him...as the Father and Son are ONE...etc.
As humans we have physical characteristics which allow for a type of unity. It is only a reflection of the spiritual unity that we are destined for.
Why do humans attempt to put the Creator of the universe in a particular human box that is the antithesis of His very nature?
PS These non-scholarly pseudo-feminists should ask themselves WHY God chose to reveal Himself to mankind as GOD IS WITH US (Emmanuel) in a masculine form.
Feminism is a great evil in our land.
PSEUDO-feminism is evil.
Authentic feminism is good....as is authentic masculinity.
;-)
How about this: Institutional female domination is a great evil in our society.
Feminism has nothing at all to do with being feminine or being a female.
> Soo funny!!! Don’t forget the hebrew name of God in the 1st verse of the Bible; Gen 1:1..... “elohim”
There are actually a couple of times in the Bible where God is described in feminine terms... the only one that I remember off the top of my head is when Jesus weeps over Jerusalem and talks about a hen gathering her chicks.

I’m going to disagree here, femininity is good... feminism is evil.
GK Chesterton said it well: “Feminism is that mode of thought which hates all things feminine.”
Ask her this:
If God is God the Mother, then wouldn't banning nativity scenes, crosses, Christmas trees-songs-greetings, all other religious and/or Christian symbols would be a cultural war on women and deprive them of their right to freedom of expression?
Actually, domination (in the sense of controlling) by any human, regardless of gender, is evil.
The pop culture of today seeks to emphasize and pervert gender in every way possible...and then present it as the “new normal.”
The “new normal” is nothing but the old sinful dressed up in gaudy clothing....or dressed very simply in the darkness of lies.
GKC is one of my favorites....but I think he’d understand my meaning and use of “authentic feminism.” I use the term because of the negative connotation given *femininity* by the pseudo-feminists of today. Personally, I like the word, femininity.
You are correct about those who hate all things feminine. Do they even REALIZE that they are stripping away their very female-ness and attempting to re-create themselves as male? It is, at its base, self-hate!
One of the best articles I’ve read about this can be found here:

Eh- I do believe in Biblical submission of women to men. Everything else seems like people try to slip out of our responsibilities toward God’s will- and into control over any number of people, places and things.
Biblical submission to my husband does not mean CONTROLLING domination by him. I thought my post clarified that but perhaps not.
