So don’t click on it.

You have to ping JR to complain to him?

This thread is very useful and I have gotten some good advice on it because I don’t presume to know everything there is to know about gardening.

Inventors learn from their endeavors. Who knows what your husband may eventually create from his experience with his gutter garden?

It's really a very creative idea. I can see where the standard sized gutters would not work well, but if they were bigger, which would also mean heavier needing more support, it just might be feasible.

BTW, good to see you trisham. How'd you make out during Sandy? I recall there was quite a bit of consternation as you weren't heard from for some time after the storm hit.

ge: “How does one know for sure, when a poster gets the official zot?”

If you click on her screen name, you can go to her homepage and see if she’s got a banned or suspended notice on it.

A word of warning, though, some people have figure a way of somewhat faking the page. If the person is truly banned or suspended, the message will be all you see; the entire screen will be blue.

If their screen name and sign up date and flag show, then it is a fake page. Look at the difference between these two pages. The first one is faked. The second one isn’t.

It took me some time to figure out myself, but it is not hard once you catch on.

My indoor tomato tends to get too tall to support itself and then flops over. Just picking up the vines and reweaving them back through the trellis is usually enough to pollinate the flowers.

I like this thread too. I’ve learned a lot. I’m a terrible gardener too...but I keep the seed companies happy and busy filling my orders, small as they are. If this person thinks we’re simple minded...she should watch the tirades on msnbc.

I too have tried store bought stevia, and get headache from it. So please keep us posted. I may invest in a plant. I drink a lot of hot tea.

Interesting. I haven’t had that problem. I put mine in undersized pots and next to the southwest patio door, plus a grow light for about and hour or two after sundown.

They don’t get too tall, and if they did, I would probably just pinch the top off. LOL. I like flicking and detest winding vines around supports. LOL

Mine are kind of starved for light. They’re on the north side, and I have grow lights on them 16 hours a day, but it’s just enough to keep them alive. If they were in any other room the cat would get at them, this is the only room she’s not allowed in.

The house I’m trying to build is almost half greenhouse. You can see by the designs where my priorities lie :)

Will do. I only have one plant, and it really isn’t big enough to try and do any processing. Before I started growing it, I did purchase some from the store.

I tasted it directly, and did notice a bitter taste. However, I then went on a sugar reduction diet. Started mixing soda with half club soda.

Then, a dash of unsweetened fruit juice with club soda. A little lemon or lime juice tastes sweeter with a little sprinkle of the stuff I bought from the store, and can’t taste the bitter at all.

Anyhow, I haven’t noticed it in the hot tea, now that I just add a leaf to the teas leaves during the brewing.

If this plant survives the winter, I will be planting some more, so that I can harvest enough for processing and try some of the recipes in the book about homegrown Stevia.

Shaking the tomato blossoms really does work. I did this with my cherry tomatoes this past season, and got an amazing amount of fruit set.

I also recommend placing a calcium citrate table or two near the base of every tomato plant to prevent blossom end rot (actually it's a calcium deficiency).

Better utilization for a gutter.

It does require a little bit of space though.
