Ha, ha, I love that! Unfortunately, that is the kind of study that passes for serious science these days. There is so much junk science, that it’s difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff.
What I really love are the studies that claim “x” may lead to death, and when you read the story more closely, you find that the subjects of the study were in their seventies or eighties. Duh! If you are looking at people in their eighties over a period of 10 or 15 years, I can guarantee that there will be many deaths, no matter how they live or what they eat or what drugs they take.
My doctor also prescribed Metformin and Glipizide. I used them but didn’t like the side effects(pain in my side) so I started doing my own research. I’m controlling my diabetes with nutrition, exercise and diet. BTW, I eat oatmeal with fruit nearly every day for breakfast. A ten minute walk afterwards does wonders. Here’s a link I found that led me to berberine among other nutritional options.

Type 2 is actually insulin resistance. A study out 6-8 months ago found a highly caloric restricted diet for 12-14 weeks reversed the issue and markers for type 2 disappeared after 2-4 weeks. By getting into balance you can prevent the inflammation cascade that is type 2. By staying at an appropriate weight it won’t come back. New research with nanoparticals is pointing the way to reverse even type 1, maybe even type 3. Basically they tag the nano with an antigen to get the body to recognize its self.
