FULL TITLE: 'He's treated like the worst of the worst': Sandusky put on hard routine and separated from other inmates for his own protection
Serial child sex offender Jerry Sandusky lives under tight restrictions in prison for his own safety, it has been revealed.
The former Penn State coach is on hard routine after he asked for more prison privileges and then received threats from inmates.
'He is being housed in the appropriate facility in order to assure his safety,' said Susan McNaughton, press secretary for the Pennsylvania state Department of Corrections.
She responded to questions from Reuters after one of Sandusky's lawyers complained that his client was confined to his cell 23 hours a day.
"He's being treated like the worst of the worst in the state prison system in terms of his daily routine," attorney Karl Rominger said on Saturday.
He said Sandusky is treated like extremely violent offenders, or those on death row.
Sandusky, 68, Penn State's former defensive coordinator, was convicted in June of 45 counts of sexually abusing 10 boys over 15 years, some in the football team's showers.

That’s because he is the worst of the worst.
Other inmates have to work jobs and take their chances with other inmates in the general population. Sandusky is protected and so long as he is isolated from the general population, he will never have to worry about getting shanked, raped or otherwise assaulted/humiliated at the hands of his fellow prisoners.
Sandusky is being allowed to do "easy" time.

Well, that's just it. Perhaps Sandusky wants special "shower privileges"...just like the Penn State coaching staff, AD, and Admin gave him...and allowed him to have for up until the investigation of Sandusky officially kicked off.
