My dad is 85, has terminal cancer and really doesn’t care about this life anymore.

So you're perfectly willing to abandon him now?

Your dad is on the title, he owns the car and is totally responsible, all the liability is on him. What did you do forge his name, you say he doesn’t know.
A DUI is a DUI.
You need a license to get insurance but hey you are lying to your dad what’s the Mexican government - oh wait jail.

So have you stopped beating your wife?

What are you inferring? My dad and I get along really well.

I would do anything for my dad.

Wow, it just gets worse and worse.......if I were I’d run away, wait that’s what your are doing in Mexico.
Good lord, you not only do you drive illegally, you misrepresent the car to your dad, and abandon him.
What a fantastic human being.

Mexico has changed since 2002 it is a war zone. The cops even kidnap people. Are you going to get a work or visitors permit/visa? You will need one if you will be there longer than 72 hours or go further south than 18 miles. You are putting your father at huge risk for his name being on the title /registration he should not let you drive the car and his insurance wont cover you here or there.

In Mexico how are you going to protect your project, computer, data etc from getting stolen?

I suggest you think of another plan and find a place to stay that you can take public transportation or walk to. Maybe go to work and save money so you can continue your project..borrow money or sell an interest in your project selll the car,you can’t legaly drive it.

I wish you well but I think your idea is very foolish.

Does the name MCafee ring a bell?

He knows. And why are you accusing me of fraud? Do you know something that I dont know? Legally, I am just driving my dads car.

Of course you can drive his car with his permission, his company will not cover you without insurance.
If he has given you permission and he knows he is complicit in an illegal activity, if you have lied to him about it that would be considered fraud (in all likelihood) and his company would still hold him responsible.
Regardless, you are by all appearances using him in your illegal activity because as you say he is dying, and I personally find that disgusting.

I would do anything for my dad.

Then why aren't you staying with him if he is terminal?

The implication which is hinted, is either Driving Under the Influence or Child Non-support.

There are some law and order supporters who think if the individual got in still more trouble for driving without a license, perhaps before even reaching the Mexican border, would be deserved.

Another point of view is knowing when to stop digging.

So you are lying to him.
It wont matter, if you are involved in an accident he will be responsible.

Are you a lawyer?

Can you cite the law for that?

You're his son. Why aren't you with him? Are the dozen people all family members?

Since you have received numerous responses to your question(s) from “the smartest people in the world”, have you been persuaded one way or another as to how you will ultimately proceed?
