My old Kitty boy is giving up on life-in the last couple of days, he has barely eaten and only gets out of his favorite basket to lie by the French doors in the sun. This morning, I saw him in the basket, and thought he was gone, but he woke up when he smelled food, and had a few bites before hobbling to his spot in the sun to lie down and sleep for hours.

I’m surprised-as is my vet-he has lived this long, given his hard life before he was brought to the shelter as an adult-he has always been a bit delicate and he is at least 16. I said at this time last year he would not live the summer out-I’m glad I was wrong, but I still hate for him to go...

I’m sorry - it is hard to lose a pet. You’ve given him a good life it appears.

Oh, I am sorry to hear that he is near the end. When one of my collies couldn’t be coaxed to eat ground meat, I knew he was ready to go. I was determined to nurse him back to health but his body was not able. I’m still sad about losing him, a year later.
