Looks like a cornet to me. Not a trumpet.

It is a cornet. When I was in band, all players played cornet rather than trumpet. They’re interchangeable, play wise.

I’m concerned about his cheeks puffing. That’s bad form and his teacher should correct it.

There is also another one on that same link of a 3 year old playing a violin that is a real hoot - and very talented!

Best example of bad form. Pull up some videos of a true trumpet professional like the late Maurice Andre (don’t let a double chin confuse you for puffy cheeks!) and you won’t see the enlarged face.

One of the first things I learned in 7th grade band as a (then) cornet player.
